Winter is Coming... ❄️☃️ Do you have a Plan?

You may think from the outside looking in, that I’m a healthy, happy, joyful woman, in a solid, happy partnership. 

And you wouldn’t be wrong, most of the time! 

The truth is, I have struggled on and off with depression at various times in my life. In fact, two years ago I succumbed to a depression like I’d never experienced, and even accepted the support of prescription drugs to help me climb out. 

The reason why I share this with you today, is because physical health and emotional wellness are two of my secret weapons when it comes to maintaining lasting love: not just the love we have with a partner; the most important, loving relationship we have: with ourselves. 

I believe that the depression that took me out a couple years ago was a direct result of living out of alignment and disconnected from my true self for an extended period of time. 

And it’s not as though I was suffering: all of my physical needs were met! 

At the same time, there were multiple ways I was betraying myself left and right without even knowing it! 

Like saying YES when I meant NO, or not fully engaging in the present because I was occupied in wistful nostalgia of the past. 

Has that ever happened to you? 

I spent the better part of last year healing this depression by ‘coming home to myself’. Which I thought was about doing more of the things I love to do, and taking part of activities where I felt the most ME. 

One of the biggest mis-alignments I felt was being so extroverted and not being with people;  hiding out working from home and not engaging in my local community. 

And so I made it my mission to become a gal about town: I took dance classes, I started working from local coffee shops and restaurants, AND I returned to my roots and got a part-time Pilates teaching job where I got to inspire people in movement, AND get my people fix on. 

And while this was very fun and helpful, every single one of these ‘healing strategies’ were no longer available to me this year when COVID hit. 

Perhaps that’s when the real healing began. 

This year has been a crucible for healing, and I anticipate this winter being even more of a stretch, as temperatures drop and daylight wanes. 

So I want to ask YOU, do you have a plan?
